Webcam Test
Test your webcam online: live preview, camera selection, actual resolution, measured frame rate, aspect ratio, mirror mode and snapshot download — all in your browser.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedCheck your camera in seconds
This webcam test shows a live preview from your camera and reports the details that matter before a video call, stream or recording. Once you press start, it displays the actual resolution the camera is delivering, a friendly name such as 720p HD or 1080p Full HD, the aspect ratio and the frame rate. The frame rate is measured by counting the frames that really arrive, using the browser's video-frame callback where available, and is shown next to the value the camera driver reports. A big gap between the two usually points to poor lighting, USB bandwidth limits or a busy computer.
If you have several cameras — a built-in laptop camera, an external USB webcam or a virtual camera — pick one from the list and switch between them while the preview is running. You can also request a specific resolution to find out what your camera really supports. The mirror toggle flips the preview like a mirror, which is how most video-call apps show you to yourself, and the snapshot button saves the current frame as a PNG image straight to your device.
Private by design
Everything happens locally in your browser using the standard getUserMedia API. The video is never recorded, uploaded or analysed on a server. When you press stop, every camera track is stopped, so the camera light turns off and other applications can use the device again.
Troubleshooting webcam problems
If the browser shows a permission error, click the camera or lock icon in the address bar, allow the camera for this site and try again. On Windows and macOS, also check the system privacy settings, which can block camera access for all browsers. An error saying the camera cannot be started usually means another program, such as a video-call app, is already using it — close that program first. If no camera is listed, reconnect the USB cable, try a different port and make sure the device is not disabled. A dark or noisy picture is normally a lighting problem rather than a faulty camera.
